Tree felling is the bread and butter of Total Tree Care. We've been doing it across the Waikato since 1992. The job changes a lot depending on the tree, the section and what's nearby, so before any saw comes out we'll have a proper look and explain how it'll come down.
How a typical fell runs
- We walk the site, check the lean, look at what's around (fences, sheds, lines, neighbours)
- Either a straight controlled fell, or sectional take-down with ropes if there isn't room to drop it whole
- Climber up with full PPE, hi-vis, helmet and harness, plus a ground crew managing rigging and chip
- Branches chipped on the spot with the Hansa, trunk cut into manageable rounds
- Site cleared, debris removed or chipped into mulch you can keep if you want it
Where we fell
- Residential sections, single trees through to whole-section clearance
- Lifestyle blocks and farms, shelter belts, paddock edges, dangerous trees
- Schools, kindergartens and council reserves on annual maintenance runs
- Real-estate and rental properties between tenancies
If the tree is leaning over a house, a fence line or anything else valuable, that's exactly the sort of job we're set up for. $4 million public liability cover means the homeowner doesn't carry the risk if something goes sideways.
